Plague nights
Spring of 1901, on the -imaginary- island of Minger, between Crete and Cyprus. A plague epidemic breaks out on the island and a quarantine is imposed. To stop the epidemic, Sultan Abdulhamid II sends the chief health inspector Bonkovski Pasha to Minger, but he is soon assassinated. The Sultan then assigns the young doctor Nuri the task of taking action. But the evil has taken root, the plague is spreading rapidly despite the strict measures, creating further tensions between the Muslim and Christian inhabitants of the island. The incompetence of the local administration and the refusal of the people to respect the prohibitions condemn the project to failure, while the irrationality of fear, intrigues and nationalistic prejudices prevail. Faced with the risk of the uncontrolled spread of the epidemic, the sultan succumbs to international pressure and decides to blockade the island. The people of Minger must now find a way to defeat the plague on their own...
